Ladies National Golf

About Us

About the LNGA

Founded in 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri, as the Women’s Trans National Golf Association, we rebranded in the early 2020s as the Ladies National Golf Association to better position for the future. In 2024, we became a founding member of the Women’s Elite Amateur Series, with our event serving as the anchor for the year-long points race, offering players a final chance to earn World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points toward two USGA Women’s Amateur exemptions

Mission Statement

The LNGA’s mission is to uphold and advance the interests of golf by providing elite competition for amateur women golfers, while also fostering camaraderie and encouraging good sportsmanship.

Championship Trophies & Their Legacy

Amateur Championship

The George III Champion Trophy was created in London in 1810 by master silversmith Thomas Robins. Over the years, it has been won by legends such as Patty Berg, Betty Jameson, and Betsy Rawls, as well as modern champions like Rachel Kuehn, Kelly Xu, and Thanana Kotchasanmanee, each adding to the trophy’s enduring legacy of excellence and tradition.

Howell Team Trophy

Mrs. Charles Howell, one of the early supporters of the LNGA, donated this distinctive silver vase to recognize team excellence. The Howell Team Trophy is awarded to the club, college, or university whose two members achieve the lowest combined score. Teams of up to three golfers from the same club or school may enter, with the best two scores from each round counting toward the team total. Teams are declared and confirmed during on-site registration, and institutions may enter multiple teams, provided each has no more than three players.

Dorothy Pease Trophy

Mrs. Dorothy B. Pease, a three-time President of the Association, had a deep passion for junior golf and a strong desire to encourage young players. In 1953, she donated a beautiful silver bowl to the Association, now awarded each year to the player under 18 years old with the lowest medalist score.

The LNGA is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization governed by the LNGA Executive Committee.

Sponsorships play a vital role in keeping player entry fees low and the championship accessible to all. Every sponsorship dollar goes directly toward event costs, and the LNGA offers several sponsorship levels. For major sponsors, we tailor recognition opportunities to match what they value most.
