Sue Ewart
Sue Ewart led the Long Beach State women’s golf program for 13 seasons (1997–2009), guiding the 49ers to two NCAA Tournament appearances and earning Big West Conference Coach of the Year honors twice (2005, 2009). 2009, she stepped down as head coach but continued contributing to the program in a part-time role. That final year marked one of the program’s best: she led Long Beach State to its first Big West Conference championship and an NCAA Regional berth. Under her leadership, 32 players earned all-conference honors (12 of them first-team), and many were distinguished for academic success, including eight Academic All-Americans. Sue also competed on the LPGA Tour in 1981–82, later regained her amateur status, and served in roles with USGA rules and women’s committees. A Long Beach State alumna, she’s been honored in the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame (inducted 1997) and the LBSU Athletic Hall of Fame (elected 2004) for her impact as player, coach, and ambassador of the game. Sue has been involved with the LNGA for 7 years.
