Hot Springs, Arkansas – The 94th LNGA Championship is delivering on its promise of elite competition. As the second round concluded today, the leaderboard is buzzing with impressive scores and thrilling performances. Sixteen players shot under par, including a 66 by Jeneath Wong of Malibu, California which was a new women’s course record.
Laney Frye took command of the top spot in the tournament with a spectacular 4-under-par 68 today, propelling her to the top of the leaderboard. Frye’s performance today showcased why she holds multiple program records at her alma mater Kentucky.
Close on her heels is Bentley Cotton, Scarlett Schremmer, and Thanana Kotchasanmanee. They each posted under-par rounds, ending the day just two shots back at 5-under for the tournament. The trio’s consistent play and competitive spirit promise an intense showdown as they vie for the coveted championship title.
“I’m just keeping it in play, fairways and greens. The course is getable, the back nine has been good to me. If the putter gets hot, there’s a low score out there” said Frye.
With a tightly packed leaderboard and numerous contenders within striking distance, the stage is set for a dramatic conclusion as these talented athletes showcase the best of women’s amateur golf.
The Howell Team trophy race is starting to lean toward The University of Texas. They are at eleven under par after two days and they have jumped out to a six-shot lead ahead of the University of Arkansas.
The last round starts tomorrow at 7.30 am and the field will be paired by score. The leaders will tee off number one at 9:31 am CST. The scoring updates will available on our website and other updates will be available on social media.
